Bicycles

All IVT buses are equipped with bicycle racks, which hold one or two bikes. Only single-rider, two-wheel bicycles are permitted. No motor, tandem or three-wheel bikes are allowed.

Passengers must be able to load and unload their bikes without help from the operator. Always load and unload your bike from the curb side of the bus.

There is no guarantee that there will be space on any specific bus for your bicycle. Bicycles are a local popular means of beginning and continuing the trip. You can call the Dispatch Office 760-482-2900 ahead of time to ask if they can determine if the bus route you want to use is already loaded with bicycles. IVT, ICTC, its member agencies or Transdev is not responsible for damages to or caused by bicycles on IVT buses or IVT property or vehicles.

Before the bus arrives remove all detachable items from the bike, such as bags, air pumps, and water bottles.

Loading/Unloading

When approaching your stop, let the bus driver know you will load or unload your bike. Then enter or exit through the front door of the bus.

  1. Lift the support arm from the bicycle's tire and lower it to the magnet on the rack.

  2. Take your bicycle out of the rack.

  3. If the rack is empty, raise the rack up against the bus.

Bicycles Lost and Found

All unclaimed bicycles left on racks will be sent to the IVT Lost and Found. Information on missing bikes may be obtained 24 hours after the loss by telephone at (760) 482-2900. Lost and Found articles may be picked up by appointment. Bicycles unclaimed in 30 days may be donated to a local charity.
